I enjoyed a beautiful early spring evening in the backyard with my 1962 Questar. Spring is my favorite time to do lunar observing because the Moon is not too bright and high in the sky during early evening hours.
The only postprocessing I did was to add a touch more contrast and shadow brightness.
My Questar’s ability to resolve fine lunar details never disappoints me. Here is a detailed section of the above photo with Montes Apenninus as the most prominent feature in the upper left corner of the image. This is a single exposures, not a stack of multiple exposures using more sophisticated processing methods. I like keeping things simple.
Along with doing some digital imaging with my Canon EOS M200 camera, whose cropped sensor is a very good match for my Questar’s circle of illumination at the focal plane, I loaded both my Questar-modified Nikon F and Questar-modified Praktina FX camera bodies and took some film photos of the Moon. I have a roll of Ilford FP4 Plus in the former and a roll of Kodak Tri-X 400 in the latter. I hope to shoot through the rest of both rolls and have them developed before long.
